Future Hokie

The weekend before last (sorry, slow blogger here), we ventured south to one of our favorite towns in the United States - the one and only Blacksburg, Virginia! Blacksburg holds a special place in our hearts as it is the home of our alma mater, Virginia Tech (Go Hokies!). Had lots of good times way back when we were in college there and have remained fans of VT ever since. So we figured it's never to early for Isla to start considering which university she might be aiming to attend and take her on college visits, right?! So far she has seen Columbia University and George Mason University, so she had something to compare VT to. . . we think she'll make the right decision. If she ever seems confused, we can also have her chat with Aunt Jen, Uncle Rob, or Uncle Gavin who also bleed orange and maroon. . . But for now, no pressure!! : )

Anyhoo, we had a good time, although teething kicked in full force the first night and then we enjoyed loud neighbors fighting over some girl named Amanda the second night. . . despite lack of sleep (a familiar feeling in the 'Burg), we had a good time taking her to all of our old favorites spots (minus the bars, sorry Hokie House, maybe next time). And she got to experience some tailgating, meet the Hokie Bird and watch the Hokies play Wakeforest until we had to leave since it got a bit too chilly. We were winning anyways!

Here's a slideshow I whipped up - Go Hokies! Oh and a note about the music selection - Isla's not so much into Metallica - it's just the song they play when the football team runs out on the field at the beginning of the game, so it seemed fitting! : )

  1. the song was a little ridiculous but the video was awesome because of the chewing giraffe footage! glad to see your road trip was success!!

  2. WHAT?! I know, if I knew how to do sound editing I would have just played the beginning and threw in a more mellow tune. But alas. . .
