Operation Big Girl

first night in her new bed!

Proud to report that we have accomplished a few important goals we set for our big girl, Isla! When we started potty training the week before her 3rd birthday, we knocked out her "milky" sippies and diapers in one. We were definitely not excited to start the process of potty training, but double diaper-duty got old very fast and she was ready. We have to nag and sometimes bribe her to sit on the potty, but we have had very few accidents since she became completely diaper-free. So proud of her.

Another goal we reached back in June was to get her into a "big girl" bed! We were a little nervous about it due to a lot of horror stories we've heard! And she was perfectly happy in her crib, only "escaping" once and we don't think she meant to because she fell like a sack of bricks onto her head! But, Vivi needed the crib and it was time for Isla to move on! We introduced the idea of the bed gradually, talking about the rules (no jumping, getting out to play, etc.) and to see how she felt about it. When the day finally came to buy her bed, she was more excited that we've ever seen her! (Even more thrilled than she is when offered cake or ice cream, so that's some excitement.) It was so cute. And she loves it! Now we just need to finish it off with a fun DIY headboard!

Our little hon is growing up! Now if only we could wipe out those tantrums and get through a meal without issue . . .
