Trick-Or-Treat!

Our little black cat, witch and batman before trick-or-treating

Isla couldn't wait for Halloween this year. She has been considering costume options all year. Even after she had finally decided on being a witch, she kept coming up with other costume ideas -- unicorn, hotdog(?), and princess came to mind -- I reminded her that she had made her decision, the costume was made, (thanks to Madonna) and that maybe she could save her great ideas for next year. Then I braced myself for her reaction, which surprisingly was: "You're right, Mommy." Phew!

Like last year (which I never posted about!), we ventured around a few blocks in our neighborhood with her friend Colleen and her parents (babies Vivi and Caroline also in tow). Highlights included: hearing the girls' cute, little voices say "trick-or-treat!", Colleen's constant request for candy with "no peanuts" due to her allergy (smart girl!), and running into Michael Phelps and his entourage while passing Isla's favorite ice cream place and then stopping by his house for candy (he lives quite close to us). Was hoping he would be the one handing out the candy and that we could take a photo, but no dice. After trick-or-treating, the girls had a piece of candy each and a nice sugar high before ending the night. We grown-ups also had one after sampling a piece (or more) from their stashes! Had to take care of those pieces containing peanuts! Shhhh, don't tell! Next day, Isla asked when Halloween would be coming again!

Halloween 2012: purple fairy, super girl and robin

Halloween 2013: batman, cinderella,
witch, baby pumpkin and black cat

I just love your hat!

Trick-or-Treat! Oh, and please, no peanuts
